We pride ourselves on a strong live and original music programme.

In 2020 we became part of the Music Venues Alliance (MVA), part of the Music Venues Trust (MVT). In addition to the monthly clubs we also have one off events, club nights and book an eclectic mix of bands from near and far.

There is a licensed bar and some events offer pop up dining too. (In spring 2021 we were able to upgrade our in house audio visual equipment with a grant from Arts Council Wales which will improve our technical support to ensure top quality support for musicians and bands.)

Brecon Jazz Club/Jazz Clwb Aberhonddu

Jazz has been played in Brecon as part of an organised and regular club event since at least the 1970s. Over the years, club nights have taken place at various music venues across the town, including notably, the Duke's Bar on the first floor of the Wellington Hotel.

Many outstanding local jazz musicians would attend to join in and play with touring lineups and special guests or the featured ensembles who travelled from around the country to perform. It was a vibrant local scene and led to the development of a summer annual Festival of Jazz.

Today, the Brecon Jazz Club team runs regular music events at its home venue, The Muse, and also organises and programmes the annual Jazz Festival in August.

The Mid Wales Rhythm and Blues Club

The Mid Wales R&B Club was started by Chris and Cath Rogers in 2014 originally in pubs around Powys’ but soon moved to Rhayader in 2015 and then to The Muse in 2017.

Since then, the club has grown in size and popularity, with regular gigs selling out and Blues artists from far and wide wanting to play. The Club is currently run by Angus Kings.

As well as promoting gigs at The Muse, the Club also works with other venues from time to time. With exceptional talent from the UK and international acts, this great Club offers an intimate opportunity to experience a diverse programme of brilliant blues.
